FAQ

Quaker Voluntary Services

Are non-Quaker groups eligible for grants?

Historically, the Shoemaker Fund has made occasional grants to non-Quaker organizations for projects that align with Quaker values. More recently, with our focus on promoting the growth and vitality of the Religious Society of Friends, Quaker organizations have been strongly favored.

Are Quaker groups outside of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting area eligible for grants?

Yes. Historically, the Fund has given some preference to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting groups, but the Fund has made many grants to non-PYM groups over the years.

Can I test my funding idea with the Distributing Trustees in advance of applying?

Direct contact with the Distributing Trustees is discouraged. Questions about eligibility and our guidelines may be directed to Anne Edmunds, Administrative Assistant at 215-545-7099 or aedmunds@shoemakerfund.org.

Do I have to use the Application Form on your website?

Yes, this is a requirement.
